Greetings from Canada!

Bon Jour! Hello!

Why French? Coz, I'm visiting my friends in Canada and you know the French up here rubbed off a bit. Anyway, I'm here for Christmas and New Year's. I toured quite a bit already - Toronto and Niagara Falls were great (again) and Ottawa was COLD!

Oh well, it is winter, and 'tis the season to be cold! Speaking of season and the cold, isn't the New Year just a day away? Amazing how fast time flies! I'm gonna have a nice Russian-style new year. We are gonna celebrate the new year when the clock strikes 12 in India, Russia, and US/Canada! Cool, huh?

My Book!

About a year and half ago, I was requested to write a book chapter based on my grad school thesis. The editor of the book saw our (the professor I work for as grad assistant and I) presentations in a one of the conferences and contacted us to write a chapter in his book. Named "Emerging Spatial Information Systems and Applications", the book holds an impressive collection of cutting-edge GIS research from various parts of the world (including mine, of course! :-) ).

I was entirely thrilled and humbled at the invitation to write a chapter in this book. After our submission and the routine formality of "acceptance", the book is finally published and out for purchase! I received a complimentary author's copy! Can't tell you how happy the feeling is! If you get a chance, check out this book. Click on this link for more info on the book

Almost like being in Russia!

This fancy Russian hat - called "Ushanka" - is my friend Dima's. He and I goof off big time with fake Rrra-shan awksents : -)

Anyway, this hat was a recent gift from his grandfather grandmother. The picture is from his cellphone! Pretty awesome, huh?!

I'd definitely get one of those if I ever visit Russia!
